Connecting Nature, Art, and Community
The Friends of the Trinity Strand Trail, a 501c3 org, has been working in the Dallas community since 2002 on the design, development and implementation of The Strand Trail - presently a 4.7 mile walking and biking path that follows the original Trinity River channel and provides access to restaurants, hotels, and offices in the Dallas Design Center and the Medical District.
The Strand Trail connects to The Katy Trail and currently ends at Hi-Line Drive. Remaining components of the project include landscaping in the current Strand Trail (Phases 1 and 2); the construction of connector bridges; and Phase 3 with is a connection to Pegasus Park.
The Friends of the Trinity Strand Trail has received funding from numerous sources including the City of Dallas and private donations, With your help The Strand Trail will ultimately connect over 73 miles of trail in the Dallas area including: the Southwestern Medical District, Dallas Market Center, Downtown and Uptown Dallas, Stemmons Corridor businesses, and the Dallas Design District.
The Strand Trail plays an integral role in connecting various trails, neighborhoods and communities in Dallas and involves local architects and artists working together on the beautification and physical design, creating bridges and other necessary that make the trail accessible to all.
Simultaneously, environmental scientists and volunteers are working alongside to restore the natural greenspace of the Old Meanders and bring life of all kinds back to this area of Dallas.
