Mission & Vision

Founded in 2002, Friends of the Trinity Strand Trail continues to put passion and purpose into designing and building a beautiful, vital, car-free greenway along the original Trinity River channel.

Now entering Phase 3, we have become an integral part of The Loop Dallas, creating a continuous, accessible trail connecting our oasis with much of Dallas’ vibrant neighborhoods, businesses, and cultural districts.

The Trail was made possible through invaluable contributions of land, time and funding from donors and partners including the City of Dallas.

Key Features:

  • Attractive native habitats, skyline views, car-free urban connectivity.

  • Lighting, water stations & signage (thanks to Texas Parks & Wildlife grant).

  • Proximity to hundreds of local restaurants, art galleries, hotels, living, and eclectic businesses.

  • Public art, gathering spaces, and safety crossings.

  • Scientist-led environmental preservation & restoration.

  • Architect and local artist collaborations for beautification.

Completed Work:

  • Phase 1 Enhancements (Texas Parks & Wildlife Grant)

  • Hi-Line Bridge Connector (2024) — featuring vibrant murals and street lighting— connecting the Trinity Strand Trail with the Katy Trail through Victory Park and the Design District.

  • Phase 2 Medical District Segments: $3.3M 2012 bond-funded extension through Parkland, Market Center, and Inwood DART Station

    In Progress:

  • Hi-Line Pedestrian Bridge connecting Hi-Line to Phase 3

  • Phase 1 & 2 Enhancements: lighting, benches, fountains

  • Phase 3 (Updated construction and landscape planning

Connecting The Future

Upon completion, the Trinity Strand Trail will link with over 73 miles of Dallas trails, connecting the Design District, Medical District, Market Center, Stemmons Corridor, Downtown, Uptown, White Rock Lake, and soon — Pegasus Park.

The project strengthens Dallas’s identity as a walkable, healthy, art-forward city.

  • Pegasus Park Extension: Ongoing design and fundraising stage (Fall 2025).

  • More public art, live events, trees & landscaping, interpretive signage, and gathering spaces.
